Pawhold
Pawhold is a 3D voxel medieval city-builder that runs in the browser. A clan of foxes, pandas, rabbits and bears settles a valley, raises a town and holds it against raiders through twelve ages.
What you do
- Pick a building from the card dock and click the ground to place it. Drag a line to draw walls.
- Grow through twelve ages, from Hamlet through Clockwork and Skyward to Fusion, Orbital, Nanotech, Quantum and Stellar. Each age has its own colors, buildings and units.
- Hold the valley against raids of wolves, boars, raccoons and badger rams. Survive 25 raids to finish the chronicle, then keep going in endless mode, where raids keep growing and flying Drakes join the attack.
- Command your defenders like a strategy game: select, box-select, attack-move and hold. Defenders level up from kills and learn abilities.
- Research a 30-technology tree across Economy, Military and Defense.
Atmosphere
The game has a day and night cycle, four seasons and changing weather. Winter halves your food and autumn brings a harvest bonus. All of the sound is synthesized live, so there are no audio files.
How it's built
- Plain HTML and JavaScript with Three.js, no framework. The voxel models are built in code, so the game ships with no image or sound assets.
- The source is split into modules, and a build step produces the single page that gets deployed. A headless test suite plays scripted campaigns on every difficulty.
- It installs like an app and works offline. Saves use three slots plus an autosave, and can be exported and imported.
- On phones, tap an animal and then the ground to move, long-press a card to read what it does, and pinch to zoom.
